The world’s only winery located inside a department store has opened in the basement of Kyoto Takashimaya in October 2023. It is located inside the store, so anyone can come and see it. You can also taste and purchase freshly made wine.

I have been impressed by the deliciousness of this wine since last year, and have been enjoying it ever since. In particular, the pesticide-free, additive-free, unfiltered Muscat Bailey A red wine, which was brewed in October last year, is a rare wine, and only 70 bottles are available for sale, so it may be sold out by the time this blog is posted. If you see this blog and go shopping to buy it, I apologize if it is sold out. Please wait until next year. It has a rich aroma of wild strawberries and berries, and a refreshing taste.

I also like to drink unfiltered sake, so this one tastes like wine, and it goes down my throat like a stone and into my stomach. My brain seems very satisfied too.

Since I was a child, I was influenced by my mother to never eat or buy instant food, and I still live that way today. When my daughter asked for wieners, I provided them with homemade ones.

I am drinking organic Gyokuro tea as I write this article. As expected, when something is grown with the bounty of nature, the kindness of the maker is conveyed. This wine also conveys the kindness of the head winemaker, Kosuke Ueno. He is also featured in the photo, and the wine is brewed by him and Fumiyuki Tsuchiiwa.

Volunteers are also being recruited for the brewing and mixing process. This is a brewery that is made possible by the generosity of many people. The farmers’ personalities are reflected on the plates served at the restaurant, just as they are on the plates. The wine glasses also reflect the personalities of the brewers.

When we drink this wine, it touches our throat, tongue, and aroma. We can taste the passion and kindness that goes into making delicious wine, the mellowness, and the natural sourness and sweetness that nature brings. What a luxury! A moment of supreme bliss.
