The Kyoto City Bus Christmas bus will be in operation every day from December 1st to 25th, 2024. It was the idea of the staff at the Nishigamo Bus Depot. I was finally able to ride it.
You can check which Christmas buses are in operation by calling the Nishigamo Office. They operate every day during the Christmas period. By chance, the bus I was on was full of foreign tourists, to the point that I wondered, “Is this a Kyoto City bus?” When I got off, the driver was in his usual uniform, but I would be happy if he would drive dressed as Santa Claus on the 24th and 25th next year.
When I was abroad, I rode on a train carriage where guitar and violin music was played. The performance was like a parade, moving from carriage to carriage. I have also listened to a concert with a piano placed on the sidewalk. In the cold season, the Christmas bus service was a heartwarming experience.
